HP & COMPAQ Battery Recall – Overheating Problem

If you purchased a HP or Compaq laptop between Aug 2007 and Mar 2008, you will want to check to see if you have a defective battery. Most of you will already know you have a problem because your laptop gets extremely hot during normal operation. We’ve noted that most owners of these notebooks have already purchased coolers to protect their investments, but have had disparaging results when contacting technical support regarding this problem Especially if you purchased your laptop from Circuit City…

So, on with discovering if your battery is defective or not…

If you have a HP Pavilion dv2000, dv2500, dv2700, dv6000, dv6500, dv6700, dv9000, dv9500, dv9700, G6000, G7000; Compaq Presario A900, C700, F700, V3000, V3500, V3700, V6000, V6500, V6700, or 6720 (and that includes the in betweens such as a dv9725, A935, etc), you want to call this number… 1-800-889-2031 to determine if your battery is being recalled.

Why not? Because they are being recalled because the batteries can overheat, causing a fire, and also pose as burn hazards to consumers. Yikes huh? Last time we checked, those model numbers include pretty much every notebook in HP / Compaq’s line up during that time period.

So to recap… if you have a hot HP or Compaq… call 1800-889-2031 immediately. Please make sure they also compensate you for any repair costs associated with bad hardware you’ve had to replace or purchase due to heat issues (fans, memory modules, add on cards, etc). We’ve seen a lot of bad parts in these laptops due to heat exposure so make HP pay for it; labor and all!
