This week we’ve been continuing our sharepoint 2007 deploy/install which has proven to be a larger project than we originally intended it to be. At this point we’re at $18k in software and nearly $2k in labor, and we’re just getting to the employee training now. Our stumbling block was the fact that sharepoint doesnt allow you to deny access to anyone. To get around it, we had to setup sites for each organization within a parent company to keep all the employees separate. That was incredibly monotonous as each site was identical with exception to the name.
We also started our time clock endeavour. Thanks to PHP Timeclock for a simple & editable PHP script that works great! Also thanks to Ryan S. from another firm who provided the SQL setup. It’s always nice to work with people that can get the job done with nearly non-existent instruction. Thanks again Ryan & the PHP Timeclock team!
If you’ve been following us recently you probably know of our Albany trip this Friday. We have to connect an Albany office to an office in Atlanta by way of firewall-to-firewall VPN. At BentleyPC we use highly specialized and thus customizable firewalls. For this job we will be deploying smoothwall 3.0 w/update 5, connecting the two locations via VPN, & adding some QoS to insure VoIP out of Albany arrives in Atlanta without issue. We’re hoping to setup two firewalls, voip, vpn & additional equipment such as network printers in less than one day in Albany.
Wish us luck and look for another update soon…
