How do I set the date, time, and timezone in linux?

For most distros the following string format will work with the date command.

date -s 'Wed May 1 10:52:00 EDT 2013'

Just want to know the current date/time/timezone?

All you have to do is run the date command.

[user@localhost ~]#date
Wed May 1 10:52:00 EDT 2013
